Pav & Ave Ladies 1st Team tops Division 1 of Sussex Doubles League!

We’re delighted to announce that our Ladies 1st team has won (possibly for the first time ever!) Division 1 of the LTA Tennis Sussex Summer 2026 Doubles League.

After five matches, we were neck and neck with Hampden Park. Same points, same rubbers, we had more sets and they had a higher set % but on the sixth match we smashed it with a 4-0 win vs Storrington 1’s to become overall winners.

The Ladies 1st team has crept up the divisions steadily over the last few years but to come top of Div 1 is an enormous achievement!

A big thanks to everyone who has played this season. Out of nine players, six were juniors aged between 13-18 for which Julie Hobbs and her coaching team AND their parents should take huge credit. Not only are they great players but they showed great maturity on court.

Thanks also to Jemma Turner (2nd team captain) for ‘lending’ us Sienna Hasler in last minute emergencies.

And thank you to our core adult players for their competitive spirit, giving up their weekends and keeping going until the very last point!
