We entertain our French friends both on court and off
On a gorgeous Bank Holiday Weekend, Pavilion& Avenue Tennis Club entertained the members from the French Club Metz.
The Saturday afternoon featured a variety of men’s matches mixing both teams. And a ladies match on the third court. Neil Moss who was called the President by the French (we thought it was a bit over the top) excelled as the interpreter for the matches. Other individuals who featured on the day included Judy and Colin Pow, Gill Mastrangelo Jason Squire and Des O’Dell. After a hot afternoon quite a lot of cold larger was consumed on the terrace.
The Sunday was the Open tournament and twenty eight people from Pavilion& Avenue turned up to play in a series of matches that was based on the number of games you could win in a set time. It was huge fun and expertly organised by Janet.
Afterwards we were entertained by a new member Brian who played guitar and sang in both French and English (Brian also happens to be a talented tennis player). The BBQ was the best ever overseen by chef David, Angeline’s squeeze from the States. Prizes were awarded, beer and white wine was knocked back. It was a brilliant day when the club was seen in all its glory.
Huge thanks to Angeline, David the Chef de BBQ, to Gill and to Anne and all the bar staff for making it special.
