Airhall up – and nearly ready

The Airhall (“bubble”) over Courts 9 and 10 is up and will be ready to use after another couple of days of maintenance (we hope by Friday 27th October).

Thanks are due, especially to Kingdom Landscapes and Sussex Sparks – both fabulous: and to Committee volunteers, especially Neil, Jason and Malc.

Today we had a metal door repaired: and identified that three of the lights need re-fixing in the ground. This is scheduled for later this week.

The Airhall is 23 years old now and has served us very well. Now we have planning permission for the floodlights our next big job is to find the Airhall replacement – including lower-cost LED bulbs, of course.

Floodlights

By the way, the floodlights are scheduled for fitting during November and are estimated to be finished by Christmas. (Fingers crossed.) We hope to do away with tokens and token machines (outdated “tech”): watch this space!

The permission is for new floodlights on courts 1, 6, 7 and 8: and the lights on courts 2, 3, 4 and 5 are being replaced with LEDs. These are cheaper to run and also cast less light over neighbours.

Club Secretary Colin Pow led this complex floodlight project, with good help from one of the club Trustees, Graeme Hawkins.

Obviously, lots of other people help to keep our club running as smoothly as it does: but those mentioned deserve a little extra thanks.
